The Expedition was always going to be a costly business. Training and selecting a squad of 24 from 120 personnel is a hugely demanding task in itself. Deploying that squad 9000 miles to the far side of the world for two months is hugely expensive. The team members themselves have contributed considerably to the whole expedition but the expedition could not take place without the help of sponsors and benefactors.
The British Services Antarctic Expedition 2012 is therefore hugely indebted to our sponsors for their generous support, whether it be through the provision of equipment or funding. We are extremely grateful for this support and would like to thank all who have been involved.

With two years of intensive research and field trials the team at mountain fuel has developed a range of products for those individuals who subject themselves to conditions way beyond the physical and psychological demands of other sports. Mountain Fuel have agreed to provide BSAE 2012 with a large amount of their product for the expedition.
Cotswold Outdoor started life in 1974 as Cotswold Camping. The company premises consisted of a small outbuilding in the Cotswolds, from which the founders sold a range of basic camping accessories. 30 years later, the company is now a multi-award winning retailer with numerous thriving stores located nationwide, an award winning website and a highly successful mail order service, with one of the most comprehensive ranges of outdoor clothing and equipment in the UK. Cotswold camping have generously agreed to provide the expedition with equipment and outdoor wear.
The expedition has entered into Partnership with Guy & Chloe Savage, the current owners of Capt Oates’ Historic Yacht Saunterer. The yacht Saunterer has been lovingly restored by Guy & Chloe and it is as it must have been when Oates sailed her. She is a beautiful work of art as well as being an extremely sturdy and fast sailing yacht. Guy & Chloe are supporting the expedition through the offer of sailing trips and other corporate events to sponsors, as well as developing the sailing skills of the team who will journey to Antarctica. Saunterer is now linked to the Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) in Dartmouth and corporate events & hosting for sailing trips can be linked to visits to the historic college of BRNC.

Pusser’s rum is the only true, British Navy Rum. It was served on board ships of the Royal Navy, produced to the Admiralty specification for more than 300 years. Because of this Pusser’s Rum is unique and today Pusser’s is still that same authentic rum produced to that specification, using the same wooden pot stills. This is due to the initiative of Charles Tobias, an enthusiastic deep sea sailor. He loved it so much he persuaded the Admiralty to let him produce Pusser’s for public consumption and launched it commercially in 1979. In return Pusser’s donates a royalty on every bottle sold into a Tot Fund to provide on-shore amenities for serving sailors.
